4 Seasons

Breadcrumb Navigation

I was born in Pittsburgh, but we moved to Florida when I was 3. I didn’t grow up with 4 seasons, however I’ve always been a nature lover. After college I was craving more of a change in seasons so I decided to move to Atlanta. Things changed and we moved to Florida again. Now being in the mountains and truly experiencing 4 seasons, I can see how good it is for my soul.

The winter allows the soul to rest a bit. It also provides so much childlike fun! It’s been such a joy to watch my husband and son play in the snow and go sledding. We have even went skiing on our property.

I also find myself longing for spring, not because it’s cold but for the rebirth that it provides. It’s the time we get to work in the garden and to see new growth. It’s also extremely busy and so these winter days we relish in the quieter schedule.

Sometimes when something is unknown to us, we resist it. I was a Florida girl…I was supposed to love the beach and the sun. The truth is my fair skin can’t have too much sun and I’m afraid of the sharks in the ocean. Most of the time it was too hot to enjoy and then I’d catch myself daydreaming for spring and fall. After awhile I craved having a true change in seasons.

Often times what we resist is the very thing we need to run to. This experience has provided such a renewal for my spirit. There are different seasons in life…some are to rest and reflect, some to push forward. The key is to be able to listen to that still small voice so you know what season you are in right now.

What can you run towards today that you’ve been running from?
